The subject that I choose was should reasoning skills be taught in primary schools.
Based on some of the articles that I read some of them say that there is advantage to even teaching philosophy in public schools. Some of the authors say that by doing so the students would receive better reasoning skills. Some say that if you start students studying philosophy and critical thinking that their reasoning skills would greatly improve.
Another advantage of teaching philosophy is the historical value. We all know that so much of culture dates back to those Greeks like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The math we use like algebra. And the Pythagorean Theorem was invented by a Greek mathematician named Pythagoras.
Another good reason to start students in philosophy is o that they can develop a broader perspective on life. Kids think that every problem can be solved with some basic understanding and a little luck. But in philosophy a takes a little more critical thinking to understand the situation and to come up with a good answer to the problem. So by getting students to study philosophy it gets their mind to thinking.
Also by starting students early in live studying philosophy their knowledge base will grow, and later on in live they would have a better understanding to face challenges that we all in the adult world have to deal with on a day to day basis.
Now some disadvantages of teaching philosophy to young students would be their ability to comprehend what is being taught to them. But also thinking skills like any other skill can be developed in time. Like any thing if we would want are children to play football in the NFL, we would not throw them out there. What we would do is start by throwing little bill the ball around and little by little bills skills in football would develop over time. Just like a child’s under standing and critical thinking in philosophy.

So although their might be a lot of opposition out their about teaching philosophy and critical thinking. Those objections can be overcome. By teaching philosophy and critical thinking at schools we can develop the skills for our children to make better decision later on in live.
